Fast Track to Freedom in the UK

The UK Global Talent Visa allows qualified professionals to live and work in the United Kingdom without the need for a job offer or sponsorship.

Successful applicants are endorsed by Tech Nation and can choose to work for a company, start their own venture, or collaborate on projects across the tech industry.

The visa can lead to permanent residency after just three years, making it one of the fastest and most flexible routes for ambitious tech specialists to build their future in the UK.

With the Global Talent Visa, you can be on the path to British citizenship faster than through most other routes. In total, it may take as little as 5–6 years from the initial approval of your Global Talent Visa to become eligible for a UK passport. You’ll need to meet the minimum residence requirements and complete the naturalisation process.

Keep in mind that immigration rules may change, which could affect this timeline.

With the Global Talent Visa, you don’t need to show bank statements or prove savings to qualify. Your eligibility is based on your talent and achievements, not on the size of your bank account.

Unlike many other UK visas, the Global Talent Visa does not require you to provide an English language test certificate. Your application is assessed on your achievements and potential in digital technology – not on test results.

Unlike the Innovator Founder Visa, the Global Talent route doesn’t tie you to a specific business plan and business performance metrics.

You don’t need to prove milestones or get constant approval from an endorsing body. What truly matters is you – your skills, your track record, and your potential.

You don’t need a university degree to qualify for the Global Talent Visa – what matters most are your skills, achievements, and impact in digital technology.

That said, if you hold a PhD or other advanced degree that enhances your profile, it can strengthen your application, but it’s never a requirement.

You don’t need an employer to bring you to the UK – your own skills and achievements are enough. The Global Talent Visa gives you full independence: arrive in the UK and continue your projects, explore new opportunities, or apply for jobs on your own terms.

There’s no burden on employers – your visa is already secured and not tied to a specific company.

Work for any company, start your own venture, run freelance projects, or take time out to study, recharge, and explore – the Global Talent Visa makes it all possible. You’re not locked into a single track or tied to one employer. Instead, you can shape your career and life in the UK on your own terms, switching between roles or projects as your ambitions evolve.

And unlike many other visas, there’s no administrative burden: you don’t need to update your immigration status every time you change direction.

If you want to launch a startup in the UK, the Global Talent Visa gives you the freedom to do it on your own terms.

Unlike the Innovator Founder Visa, there are no endorsing body approvals, regular check-ins, or strict milestone requirements to worry about. You’re free to experiment, improvise, and pivot your business model as needed – all without affecting your immigration status.

The Global Talent Visa offers one of the quickest paths to permanent residency (Indefinite Leave to Remain, or ILR) in the UK. If endorsed as Talent, you may qualify in as little as three years; if endorsed as Promise, eligibility comes after five years.

To stay on track, you’ll need to maintain your Global Talent status in digital technology and meet the minimum residency requirements.

Keep in mind that UK immigration rules may evolve, so requirements and timelines are subject to change.

Your loved ones can join you in the UK under the Global Talent Visa. Both your partner (including unmarried partners in a genuine relationship) and your children can apply as dependants.

They enjoy full rights to live, work, and study in the UK, making it easier for your whole family to build a new life together.

One Visa. Two Paths.

The Global Talent Visa recognises two types of people: those who've already proven their impact (Exceptional Talent) and those clearly on the way (Exceptional Promise).

5 years to permanent residence

Exceptional Promise

For emerging professionals who have the potential to become leading talents in the digital tech industry.
Exceptional Promise candidates are usually:
  • At an early stage of their career (less than 5 years of experience in technology, but can have had a longer career in another type of work)
  • Recognised by others as being a potential talent in the digital technology field
3 years to permanent residence

Exceptional Talent

For established professionals who’ve made their mark as leaders or significant contributors in the tech field.
Candidates applying under this category usually
  • Well-established in their career (5+ years) and have a strong track record in their particular field
  • Have strong recognition in the technology industry through receiving awards, speaking at prominent tech events, being featured in well known publications

You must show recognition and meet two optional criteria

There are five criteria in total: one mandatory (MC) and four optional (OC)

You DON’T NEED
An English proficiency certificate
A degree
Proof of funds
A job offer
A business idea or funding
1. MC

How It Works

Your Roadmap: Process, Timeline & Costs

We’ll guide you through the steps making the journey clear and stress-free.

Check Eligibility (Free)

Time: 1–3 days

We review your profile to assess if you meet core requirements.

1

Plan Your Case Strategy

Time: 1–2 days after eligibility check

We develop a preliminary strategy: decide between Talent or Promise, select the best optional criteria, and highlight the achievements to showcase.

2

Build Your Case & Collect Documents

Time: 2–5 weeks

We handle every detail of your case, using proven best practices to elevate your chances:

  • We refine your strategy as new materials emerge, maximising your chances with what we have.
  • We help build your evidence file by analysing your achievements, identifying the strongest pieces, and handling drafting, editing, formatting, and organising everything.
  • We help prepare recommendation letters by guiding you in selecting the right referees, shaping the structure, and ensuring the letters meet all requirements while highlighting your achievements.
  • We polish your personal statement and CV to ensure they strongly support your case.
  • The project is delivered by a case team led by an experienced case lead.
  • We ensure quality control by having two additional senior professionals review your case before submission.
3

Submit Endorsement Application (Stage 1)

Processing Time: up to 8 weeks

Your case is submitted for Tech Nation's assessment.

At this stage, you pay the first portion of the Global Talent Visa application fee: £561.

4

Appeal if Rejected

Time to request a review: within 28 days

We evaluate the reasons for rejection and, if there’s a strong case, help you file a review request. Most reviews are decided within 4 weeks – and some are successfully overturned.

There is no government fee for an appeal.

5

Submit Visa Application (Stage 2)

Time: within 3 months of endorsement

After applying online, attending your biometric appointment, and submitting documents, you’ll usually receive a decision within 3 weeks if applying from outside the UK or 8 weeks if applying inside the UK.

The visa application fee is £205.

At this stage, you can also pay for a faster decision:

  • Priority service (£500 extra) provides a decision within 5 working days
  • Super Priority service (£1,000 extra) provides a decision by the next working day (or within 2 working days if your appointment is on a weekend or bank holiday).

You will also need to choose the duration of your Global Talent Visa (between one and five years) and pay the healthcare surcharge of £1,035 per year.

6

Relocate to the UK (if applying from abroad)

You must enter the UK within 3 months of your vignette start date.

Once your Stage 2 application is approved, you will receive a vignette in your passport, typically valid for 3 months. You must enter the UK within this period and activate your Global Talent Visa electronically from within the UK.

7

Apply for ILR (Permanent Residency)

Time: 3 years for the Talent route and 5 years for the Promise route

After living in the UK for 3 years on the Talent route or 5 years on the Promise route, you could become eligible to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) – permanent residency.

To qualify, you must meet the minimum stay requirement and other ILR conditions. Please note that immigration rules are changing, and the timeframe to ILR may be extended.

The ILR application fee is £3,029, and you’ll usually receive a decision within 6 months if you apply using the standard service.

You can pay an extra £1,000 for the super priority service to get a decision by the next working day (or within 2 working days if your appointment is on a weekend or bank holiday).

Alternatively, if you do not yet qualify or do not wish to switch to ILR, you may apply to renew your Global Talent Visa once it expires.

8

Apply for UK Citizenship

Time: 1 or 2 years after ILR depenting on route

After living in the UK for 5 years and holding Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) for at least 12 months, you can apply for British citizenship.

You must satisfy minimum stay requirements, which are stricter than those for ILR.

You’ll also need to prove your knowledge of English, pass the Life in the UK test, and demonstrate good character.

The application costs £1,735 (including the £130 citizenship ceremony fee), and decisions are usually made within 6 months. If successful, you’ll attend a citizenship ceremony to complete the process.

"They cared to understand the Web3 cybersecurity to deliver a winning case"

"At Hacken, we do a lot across Web3 cybersecurity – both product and service work. The CSMPLT team took the time to deeply understand our business model, services, and industry specifics. Despite our dual structure, they expertly positioned my achievements to meet the “product-led” requirement of the UK Global Talent visa. As someone who works in professional services myself, I value true professionalism – and CSMPLT delivered exactly that. I’ve already recommended them to several colleagues."

"Moved from the US to the UK on Global Talent thanks to CSMPLT"

"They deeply understand the Global Talent criteria and know exactly how to extract the most relevant aspects of your background to meet them. What truly impressed me was how much time they invested in understanding my work — far beyond what I expected. That’s what sets them apart. "They translated abstract CEO work into criteria-matching proof"

"My biggest challenge with the UK Global Talent visa was understanding what evidence they actually want from a CEO like me. I don’t write code or docs — I lead people, drive ideas, and get results. CSMPLT helped translate that into evidence that met the strict criteria. Their process was intense — they asked deep, almost painfully detailed questions — but it brought real clarity. Together we found the right angles, the right proof, and I got endorsed on the first try. Visas are painful, but CSMPLT made it as smooth as possible."

They helped me understand the requirements, identify strong evidence, choose the right recommenders, and craft a compelling strategy. While I focused on growing Nibble, they handled everything — from positioning to paperwork. I’m a strong believer in specialisation and delegating to experts, and this was a perfect example. Thanks to their work, we achieved a positive Global Talent outcome without it becoming a distraction. Huge thanks to the team for making it seamless."

"As Headway expanded internationally with new offices in London and Madrid, I turned to the CSMPLT team to help secure my UK residency permit. While I had a strong public profile, meeting the other Global Talent criteria was tricky. I wasn’t sure what evidence to use, but the team expertly guided me through it. Their understanding of the mobile apps business was outstanding — I didn’t need to explain a thing. They asked precise, metric-driven questions, making the process seamless. We secured the endorsement, and I literally spent no more than a couple of hours on all of this."

The CSMPLT team helped craft a sharp case strategy, focusing on what mattered and cutting what didn’t. Investor profiles are tricky, but the team knew exactly how to position mine for Tech Nation. They handled everything end-to-end – from positioning to execution – saving me at least 100 hours. I received a positive endorsement and couldn’t be happier with the outcome. "Reworked my case, secured endorsement, halved ILR timeline"

"After a rejected Global Talent application, I turned to CSMPLT team — and soon received my endorsement. They completely reworked my case, taking time to understand my work and distill it into a clear, compelling narrative. They guided me in identifying strong evidence and helped shape it into a coherent, criteria-aligned package. Their strategic insight and end-to-end support made all the difference. Moving from a Skilled Worker visa to Global Talent has now cut my ILR timeline dramatically. I highly recommend Ivan and his team."

"Approved for US and UK in record time with CSMPLT"

"I was referred to CSMPLT by Vital Laptenok at Burning Man, during a moment of reflection about my next steps. Once back in real life, I reached out and decided to pursue options in both the UK and US. The timeline was extremely tight, but CSMPLT accomplished what others said was impossible – in just one month everything was prepared and submitted, and two weeks later we had approval in the US. Shortly after, we filed in the UK and received another approval. Exceptional speed, flawless execution. Highly recommended."

Turn your talent into a stable future in the UK

Global Talent: one of the fastest paths to ILR and citizenship

Get Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) after 3 years on the Exceptional Talent route or 5 years on the Exceptional Promise route

To qualify, you’ll need to have lived in the UK for the full period without spending more than 180 days outside the country in any 12-month stretch.

No time limit on your stay
  • You can live in the UK permanently without worrying about visa expiry or renewals.
Family Stability
  • Your dependants can also apply for ILR, keeping your family’s future secure.
Access to Services
  • Use the NHS, access benefits (if eligible), and enjoy much more affordable – sometimes free – education at every level, from nursery and school through to university.

Become a British Citizen After 5 Years in the UK and 1 Year on ILR

To be eligible, you must have spent no more than 90 days outside the UK in the last 12 months, and generally no more than 450 days abroad over the 5-year period (that’s around 9 months in the UK each year).

Permanent status that cannot be lost by long absences
  • ILR can be revoked if you stay outside the UK for 2+ continuous years. British citizenship cannot be revoked for living abroad – your passport is yours for life.
Travel Freedom & Consular Protection
  • A UK passport is among the world’s most powerful, granting visa-free or simplified entry to over 180 countries. Wherever you are, you can rely on support from British embassies and consulates worldwide, providing assistance in emergencies and protecting your rights abroad.
Full Rights for You and Your Family
  • Only citizens can vote and hold certain public roles reserved for nationals. Citizenship also passes automatically to children born abroad – a benefit not available with ILR.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to get UK Global Talent Visa?

  • When preparing your Global Talent Visa case with us, it typically takes 2–6 weeks before it can be submitted for endorsement (Stage 1). The endorsement review itself can take up to 8 weeks. Stage 2 – the visa application – usually takes 3–8 weeks, though you can speed it up with premium processing. If you need more time, you can stretch the overall journey by an additional 6 months by waiting 3 months before applying for Stage 2 and another 3 months before entering the UK.
  • The timeline for case preparation phase depends on how quickly you can provide requested materials and how fast your referees sign their letters.
  • Our team typically invests 200–400 hours of work into each case to ensure it is as strong as possible.
  • In exceptional circumstances, we’ve completed cases in just one week when urgency was critical.
  • Sometimes cases take longer if a client’s schedule gets overloaded. In such situations, we pause and resume once the client is ready. Case preparation is a team effort: we drive the process with high proactivity and initiative, but some critical inputs must come from you.
  • Throughout, we aim to provide white-glove support tailored for high-performing individuals. We understand the reality of demanding schedules, so we take ownership of the process – staying proactive, anticipating needs, and making the journey as seamless as possible.

How many cases have you handled?

We understand why you ask – you’re trying to choose the right partner and looking for an objective metric to compare. But we do not feel comfortable sharing the exact number of cases publicly (just as we don’t disclose our revenue or other sensitive details). More importantly, the raw number of cases is not the best way to judge expertise. Let us explain and still give you some numbers.

Your case will be handled by a dedicated team of associates, each of whom has personally worked on dozens of applications. Every project is led by an experienced case lead with deep experience, having managed many dozens more. In addition, our team has been trained on and analyzed hundreds of examples – from our own practice, from industry colleagues, and from other professional sources.

It’s safe to say that our expertise and institutional knowledge is based on thousands of cases. For context, as of the end of 2024, there had been 5,249 Global Talent Visa endorsements from Tech Nation since the program was launched.

What matters most is that we apply best practices drawn from this wide base of experience – including lessons from refusals, successful strategies from across the industry, and our own continuous learning.

What if my application is rejected?

Rejection can happen. In fact, a substantial portion of our clients come to us after having tried on their own and been refused.

We’ve often seen even very senior and accomplished professionals – clearly qualified for the Global Talent Visa – turned down simply because they didn’t provide enough or properly presented evidence.

If a rejection occurs, there are several possible paths forward:

  1. Appeal. You cannot add new evidence at this stage – only argue that the assessor made a mistake. If the refusal is due to insufficient materials or letters that Tech Nation considered not valid, an appeal usually has limited prospects. We see a substantial number of endorsements that came after the quality appeal.
  2. Repackage and resubmit. In many cases, the stronger approach is to adjust strategy: present different achievements, target other criteria, and rebuild the case for a fresh submission. We also have numerous examples of successful endorsements that were obtained on the 2nd attempt.
  3. Strengthen your profile. Sometimes the best option is to wait, continue building recognition, and present new achievements in a year or two. This is also one of the possible approaches we observed working effectively.
  4. Explore alternatives. Depending on your goals, other immigration routes or even other geographies might be worth considering.

If I get the Global Talent Visa, will I automatically receive ILR after 3–5 years?

Not automatically – there are important nuances. One of the key things to keep in mind from the very beginning is the continuous residence requirement:

  • You must spend a continuous qualifying period in the UK – 3 years if endorsed as Talent, or 5 years if endorsed as Promise.
  • During that time, you cannot be absent from the UK for more than 180 days in any rolling 12-month period.
  • Breaks in residence reset the clock. If you leave the UK for a long period (e.g. 2 years), you cannot combine the time before and after; you must start the qualifying period again.
  • The continuous residence requirement means you need 3 or 5 consecutive qualifying years with limited absences.

If your goal is British citizenship, the continuous residence requirement is even stricter: you must not be absent from the UK for more than 450 days in the last 5 years (an average of 90 days per year).

What if I have a Skilled Worker Visa?

You can switch from a Skilled Worker Visa to the Global Talent Visa (GTV), and the time you’ve already spent on the Skilled Worker Visa will still count toward your ILR (Indefinite Leave to Remain).

A substantial portion of our clients follow this path.

The main reasons are:

  • Faster route to ILR. The Global Talent Visa (Talent route) requires only 3 years before ILR, compared to 5 years on the Skilled Worker route.
  • Independence from your employer. Skilled Worker visas tie you to one sponsoring employer. Many holders find themselves underpaid because they cannot easily move. Switching to GTV gives you the freedom to change jobs, apply for roles that don’t offer sponsorship, or start your own venture – and compete for fair market pay. Even if you don’t intend to change jobs immediately, holding GTV is often a strong (if unspoken) argument during salary reviews. Some clients estimate that Skilled Worker roles underpay by as much as 30% on average.
  • Recognition and signaling. Being endorsed as a Global Talent sends a strong signal to the labour market about your professional standing. It shows you are recognized at the highest level in your field.

Can I speak with former clients?

You can see the public reviews available on our website. While most clients highly recommend us to their friends and colleagues in private 1-1 conversations, only a fraction are willing to leave public feedback online or speak openly about their immigration matters, given the delicate nature of this topic.

In rare cases, we may approach a former client with a somewhat similar profile to yours and ask if they would be open to a short conversation. If they agree, we can help arrange this. However, such opportunities are limited – our clients are often very busy, and we strictly respect confidentiality, never disclosing identities without permission.

What we can always offer is to prepare a custom preliminary case strategy for you and explain how we would approach your specific situation, so that you can clearly see what we can offer in your unique case. Please request a call, and if you qualify, we’ll be happy to help.

Do you specialise on business or tech applicants?

Our focus is deliberately narrow: the tech industry. Within this specialisation, we work extensively with both business and technical profiles – the split is roughly 50/50.

We have successfully supported applicants across a wide range of roles and seniority levels – from co-founders of world-leading tech companies to analysts with just a few years of experience.

What remains constant is our confidence and expertise in one area: helping professionals in the tech industry succeed on the Global Talent route. So whether your strength is commercial leadership or technical expertise, we know how to package your achievements effectively.

What’s the cost?

To learn about the package best suited to your situation, please complete our eligibility assessment or request a personal consultation.

Our pricing philosophy is simple: we aim to deliver superior quality and depth of work at the best possible price. We are not the cheapest option on the market – but we are noticeably more efficient and more affordable than traditional law firms or professional service providers.

Why do we believe we offer the best value for money?

  1. No inflated overheads. We work remotely and do not rent expensive offices in London, New York, or San Francisco. With us, you’re not paying for polished wood panels in a main-square office, or for lawyers’ suits and watches – you’re paying for results, delivered in the smartest, most effective, and modern way.
  2. Efficient team structure. Our team is distributed across Europe and the US, but not concentrated in the world’s most expensive cities. Just like talent in tech can be anywhere, so can talent in our team.
  3. More effort invested. Compared to traditional firms, more people dedicate significantly more hours to your case, ensuring thorough preparation.
  4. There are dedicated team members who work exclusively on your case full time – they are fully engaged, deeply involved, and immersed in your context. Without the constant switching between projects (which is typical in traditional firms), we deliver better results with more nuance and greater depth.
  5. Proven expertise. These efficiencies allow us to reinvest in building systems and expertise that make us one of the world’s leading teams in Global Talent applications.

In short: we deliver more value, deeper involvement, and stronger results – at great cost.

Can I get the UK Global Talent Visa if I don’t have a strong public profile?

This is one of the most frequent questions we hear. The short answer is: recognition is a mandatory criterion – you must show some evidence of recognition.

The longer answer is more nuanced and depends on your situation.

First, expectations for recognition vary between the Talent and Promise routes, with Promise having a lower threshold.

Second, there are many different ways to demonstrate recognition. Sometimes we help clients uncover strong evidence in places they hadn’t considered. Even people who don’t see themselves as having a strong public profile may already have sufficient evidence of recognition – they just never thought of it that way. Of course, this is not very common, but it does happen.

If that’s not the case, we also offer a PR Boost service to strengthen your public presence. This can help highlight and promote your achievements – though it takes time and only works if there is already a solid foundation of expertise and accomplishments to showcase.

So, recognition is necessary – but it doesn’t always mean media publications or keynote speeches. As with every aspect of the Global Talent Visa, there are many nuances. We specialise in uncovering unique aspects of our clients’ profiles and know how to classify and position them effectively.

Am I eligible? What are my chances?

The best way to find out is to complete our eligibility assessment quiz. It’s designed to give you a quick sense of where you currently stand and what gaps may need to be addressed.

Afterwards, you can request a call with an expert, where we review your profile in detail and provide an honest assessment.

Please note: we do not provide legal advice and we do not evaluate your profile against immigration law. Our scope is narrower – we analyse your case based on practical “business logic” and comparisons with previous successful and unsuccessful applications. We do not interpret immigration law. If you require that type of advice, you should consult an immigration lawyer or solicitor.

Will you work on my case?

We reject far more clients than we take on. Our first step with every client is to carefully evaluate how their profile fits the Global Talent criteria: what strengths they bring, where the gaps are, and whether those gaps can realistically be addressed.

Only when we are convinced that we can build a strong case with a high probability of success do we propose cooperation. We are always honest about how we perceive your chances and what we can do to improve them:

  • For some clients, we are confident that with the right packaging, endorsement is very likely – and we tell them so directly.
  • For others, achievements may be too shallow, uncertain, or open to interpretation. In these cases, even with our best effort, the chances may be closer to 50/50 – and we are clear about that.
  • For many, the profile at this stage simply does not meet the threshold. In such cases, we decline to take them on, but we provide practical suggestions on how to strengthen their profile and revisit the application later.

This way, if we agree to work together, you can be confident that we truly believe in your chances.

Not sure which route is right for you?

Take our short quiz – or talk to us. We’ll help you choose the smartest path for your background and goals.
